NKUA Expands Its Horizon with Dynamic Entry into Cyprus

The Choice of Cyprus for This Significant Step Is Driven by National, Historical, and Strategic Reasons

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece's most historic university renowned both domestically and internationally, is now set to extend its presence beyond Greece, marking a dynamic entry into Cyprus.

This strategic move makes NKUA the first Greek higher education institution to venture into Europe, aiming for extroversion and internationalization. As reported by "Ta Nea," this proposal has been positively discussed in the Senate of NKUA. Following a suggestion by Rector Gerasimos Siasos, a Committee of Professors has been appointed to study the details of establishing a branch in Cyprus and its prospects, examining prerequisites for its proper operation (e.g., location, costs, the feasibility of offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs, etc.).

After the Committee of Professors drafts a detailed techno-economic study, the Senate will make the final decision. It should be noted that establishing a branch requires a Senate decision and a presidential decree.

The choice of Cyprus for this significant step is driven by national, historical, and strategic reasons, ensuring greater confidence and success potential. Many prominent Cypriot personalities have studied and graduated from the University of Athens.

This initiative signifies a major milestone for the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, contributing substantially to its development. The Cyprus branch will target the large markets of the Middle East, East, and India, among others.
