Minister Kostas Koumis Announces Legislative Changes and Highlights 2023 as a Milestone Year for Tourism

The Council of Ministers has decided to submit a bill to the Parliament aimed at amending Article 18 of the law regulating the establishment and operation of hotels and tourist accommodations, announced the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, after the council's session.

Mr. Koumis explained that the purpose of the bill is to grant an extension to hotel and tourism businesses until 31/12/2025, and conditionally until 31/12/2027. The conditions include the submission of a copy of the application for legalization of all building modifications (additions and alterations) and a responsible statement by the project designer, which will codify unapproved building installations or modifications.

He noted that a significant number of tourist and hotel units, following the urban incentives of 2013, have undergone renovations or expansions in recent years.
