The Mighty Kitchen: Winner of the 2023 OEB Innovation Award

On January 11, 2024, the innovative Cypriot food technology startup and producer of plant-based meat alternatives, The Mighty Kitchen, was awarded by the Federation of Employers & Industrialists (ΟΕΒ) with the innovation award in the 'processing sector'. The OEB's Cyprus Innovation Awards have been held for 17 years, becoming an institution aimed at empowering the culture of innovation and improving the competitiveness of Cypriot businesses. The Awards are organized by the OEB with the support of the Research & Innovation Foundation (RIF) and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation & Digital Policy.
Louiza Sophocleous, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of the company, stated upon receiving the award: “For us at The Mighty Kitchen, this award is proof of our commitment to innovation and excellence. We thank the OEB and the RIF for this opportunity, but above all, we thank the wonderful team of Mighty, their families, and our own for their support. Without them, we wouldn’t be here today. We believe that this award also signifies the evolution of the Cypriot processing sector. Today, along with The Mighty Kitchen, this evolution is awarded, the alternative is awarded, the choices and respect for fellow human beings, animals, and the environment are awarded.”
The Cypriot innovation award complements a successful year for The Mighty Kitchen. In 2023, the company ranked first in the Big Business Break competition at the International Food & Drink Event (IFE) 2023 in England, received a Bronze Award at the British Quality Awards in the “All Year Round” category for its product The Mighty Gyros, and was awarded by Deloitte, in the framework of the “Technology Fast 50” program, as a “Rising Star” company in the Middle East and Cyprus. Additionally, it received 2 awards at the recognized Greek Vegan awards: Gold Award in the Vegan Chicken Alternative category, for its best-selling product, The Mighty Chick*n Strips, and the Platinum Award of the Year in the Food & Beverage category.
The company, beyond its impressive collection of awards and recognitions, has demonstrated a significant commercial trajectory. In just one year, it has significantly increased its turnover, with a presence in competitive markets such as Greece, England, and the United Arab Emirates.
