Odysseas Tomazou’s Record Presentation

In 2022, Odysseas Tomazou led a musical venture, creating a project of personal work that goes back a whole decade.

A few words about the creator:

These compositions which were meticulously crafted through the years, reflect a deep conjunction of influences, drawing from the rich cultural web of Cyprus and its surrounding regions. This album is an homage to our roots, and it acts as a separate compositional project of tradition and personal development. The melodies showcase their echoing influence on my childhood, which was filled with traditional sounds that shaped my musical identity. Simultaneously, they bear the footprint of diverse musical landscapes that I crossed during my journey to discover my own distinct voice. What truly stands out in this project is the honest contribution, unwavering effort and collaborative spirit of beloved friends and colleagues. Their dedication birthed this record, making a testament to the power of collective creativity.

Nepheli Kentoni’s first directorial project is a meditation on human impermanence. It depicts a world that collapses unstoppably and endlessly and rises unstoppably and endlessly. Inspired by the geographical and political landscape of Cyprus, through a series of eternal deaths, Kentoni’s production, which will be performed in English, explores the paradoxical relationship between tenderness and violence. It delves deep into the complicated experiences of growing up in the embrace of a broken homeland, navigating the complexity and fragility of this interwoven existence. The production is supported by the Youth Organisation of Cyprus.
