Labor Market to Maintain Essential Staffing, Assures Minister

Yiannis Panagiotou Emphasizes Market Needs Assessment to Sustain Workforce Amidst Upcoming Summer Season

The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Yiannis Panagiotou, assured that through the evaluation of the real needs of the labor market, our economy will not be left without the necessary staffing.

Speaking in Paphos, Mr. Panagiotou mentioned that he is in daily contact with social partners and employer organizations regarding staffing in various businesses, especially for the upcoming summer season. This is to ensure a clear understanding of the situation, which is controlled and verified through data from the relevant services of the Ministry of Labor.

He commented on the positive growth rates of our economy, stating, "This growth entails the creation of additional needs for labor market staffing." He added, "It is evident that our country's demographic capabilities are such that we need additional support from both community workers and third-country nationals to fully meet market needs."

However, the Minister of Labor noted that the staffing process and the selection of job positions for which third-country nationals need to be utilized are conducted through procedures that ensure no additional problems are created beyond those that need to be solved.

Furthermore, Mr. Panagiotou reassured that "through the planning carried out by the Ministry of Labor, and through evaluating the actual needs of the labor market, our economy will not be left without the necessary staffing in any way."

He added that there is a comprehensive plan to make effective use of both domestic human resources and workers from abroad, including Europe and third countries, noting that "everything will proceed smoothly."
