Yesterday evening, tech enthusiasts gathered at The Base in Nicosia’s Buffer Zone for an engaging and insightful event hosted by Pale Blue and SocialTech Lab as part of the Google Developer Group Cyprus’ Tech Talks event series. Inspired by Google’s Tech Talks initiative, the event offered a deep dive into the Gemini model, drawing a diverse crowd from the local technical community.
The event kicked off with a gathering session at 7:00 PM, where attendees had the chance to settle in and get acquainted. The main attraction, a tech talk titled "Strumming with AI: Can Gemini Help You Master the Guitar?" was presented by Nicolas Ioannou, a Senior Android Engineer at Plum. This 60-minute session captivated the audience as Nicolas demonstrated the capabilities of the Gemini AI model in analyzing guitar playing and providing tailored practice exercises through its API.
The presentation and discussion explored the intersection of AI, and music education, highlighting both the technological possibilities and limitations along with the ethical considerations of AI in capturing the human essence of music training. Attendees gained a practical introduction to using the Google Gemini model, discovering its potential applications and benefits firsthand.
Following the talk, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, attendees enjoyed a networking session complemented by an array of delicious foods and drinks. This informal setting provided an excellent opportunity for participants to discuss the talk, share ideas, and forge new connections within the tech community.
The event series, inspired by Google’s Tech Talks, continues to provide valuable knowledge and foster connections within the technical community.
