Michalis Antoniou Re-elected to ILO Governing Body
OEB Director's Third Consecutive Term from 2024 to 2027
Michalis Antoniou, the Director General of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), has been re-elected as a Deputy Member of the new Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for the 2024-2027 term.
According to an announcement by the OEB, this marks Mr. Antoniou's third consecutive election to the ILO Governing Body, a significant honor for OEB and Cypriot employers.
In the election held yesterday, June 10, in Geneva, Mr. Antoniou received 55 out of 81 votes, amounting to 68% of the total votes cast.
The Governing Body is the highest administrative authority of the ILO, responsible for administrative and executive functions. It sets the organization's policies and guidelines, drafts the budget, oversees technical and financial assistance programs for various countries, and promotes the implementation of international labor Conventions and Recommendations (ILO Conventions and Recommendations).
Today, June 11, Mr. Antoniou will address the plenary session of the International Labour Conference.
