Hotel occupancy rates in the city and district of Larnaca for the Kataklysmos weekend are around 75-80%, roughly the same levels as last year, stated Marios Polyviou, President of PASYXE Larnaca, to the Cyprus News Agency.
He added that "on the weekend as well as on Whit Monday, the day of the Kataklysmos celebration, we have good occupancy rates in the hotels of the city and district of Larnaca at around 75-80%, which is approximately the same levels as last year."
Answering a related question, Mr. Polyviou said that "among the bookings, there are some Cypriots who have booked hotels to spend the weekend in Larnaca, but most are foreign tourists."
"This year, Kataklysmos is celebrated in mid-June, and we are already in the tourist season, so foreign visitors have started their summer vacations," he mentioned.
He added that "during this period, we observe a recovery that gives some optimism for the Israeli market."
Mr. Polyviou also said that "we have tourists from Poland, Germany, Britain, Czech Republic, Romania, and from Lebanon, which is a large and very important market for us in Larnaca, as in addition to those coming for holidays, there are also permanent residents in our city."
At the same time, Mr. Polyviou noted that "there are also investors from Lebanon in Larnaca, which are particularly significant for our city. Overall, we are satisfied with the bookings in Larnaca for the Kataklysmos weekend and we hope that this will continue for the rest of the tourist season," he concluded.
