The number of building permits issued during the period of January – April 2024 increased by 8.3% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published on Monday by the Statistical Service.

Specifically, in the first four months of 2024, 2,545 building permits were issued, compared to 2,351 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The total value of these permits increased by 8.9% and the total area by 15.7%.

The number of residential units saw an increase of 24.2%.

For April, according to the Statistical Service, the number of building permits issued by municipal authorities and district administrations amounted to 669.

The total value of these permits reached €261.3 million and the total area 192.3 thousand square meters. These permits foresee the construction of 930 residential units.

Out of the 930, 558 are for residential apartment buildings, 226 for single-family homes, 97 for duplexes, and 49 for mixed apartment buildings.

Building permits are a significant indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
