Cyprus will be the center of moon celebrations as it hosts the flagship event for World Moon Day across Europe on July 27.

"This year's celebration of World Moon Day in Cyprus marks a significant moment as Cyprus was chosen to host the premier event across Europe," stated the organizers.

It is noted that the United Nations declared July 20 as World Moon Day in 2021, an annual celebration for moon exploration and cooperation. This day was proposed by the Moon Village Association (MVA) with the support of the UN (UNOOSA). Moon Day was officially approved by the UN General Assembly in December 2021. The announcement was particularly significant for Cyprus as it was hosted by the Cyprus Space Exploration Organization (CSEO) in Nicosia, emphasizing Cyprus's role as a founding member of the initiative.

"This year, we are hosting the pan-European celebration in Cyprus. The Cosplay Beach Party for World Moon Day is a testament to the spirit of international cooperation and the shared passion for space exploration," the statement added.

It is reminded that on July 20, 1969, history was made when Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the Moon.

"With the new exploration of the Moon underway, World Moon Day reminds us of the importance of peaceful international cooperation for lunar exploration and the creation of permanent scientific facilities on its surface," it was highlighted.

Additionally, on Thursday, July 25, the CSEO International Space Film Festival will take place at the Cyprus Space Research Center in Nicosia, featuring a series of specially selected short films on Space. 

The International Moon Day Cosplay Beach Party, the pan-European celebration of Moon exploration, will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 14:00 onwards at the Lebay Hotel in Oroklini, Larnaca.

The event will include fun activities for all science fiction enthusiasts, beach entertainment, and cosplay awards.

It is organized by Cyprus Comic Con in collaboration with the Cyprus Space Exploration Organization (CSEO) with the support of ECOMMBX, Grizzly Entertainment, Carlsberg, and Kemanes Print Shop.
