This year, students from Apostoloi Petrou and Pavlou High School represented Cyprus in the international Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition, held as part of the "World Water Week" conference, which took place from August 24 to 29 in Stockholm.

According to an announcement by the Limassol District Administration and the Water Museum, which is the national organizer, the SJWP competition was held under the patronage of Princess Victoria of Sweden and involved student teams from 30 countries.

The participants prepared digital posters that were displayed in a special exhibition area during the international conference. The international jury reviewed the submitted projects and conducted interviews with each participating team individually.

The team representing Cyprus consisted of students Angeliki Giorgalla and Eliana Christodoulou from Apostoloi Petrou and Pavlou High School. They presented a project titled "Electrospun nanofiber membranes for mixed microplastic and co-contaminants removal on seed germination and early plant growth."

This year's competition winners were students from the United Kingdom, with their project "PFASolve," which aims to reduce the cost of detecting and filtering hazardous PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in drinking water.

The Water Museum will announce the next 2024–2025 competition for Cyprus, with more details to be posted on the Limassol District Administration's website, as mentioned.
