12% Rise in Registered Merchant Vessels Under Cypriot Flag

Marina Hadjimanoli Addresses Shipowners in Athens

During the General Assembly of the Cyprus Shipowners Association in Athens, Maritime Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanoli reported a significant 12% increase in registered merchant vessels under the Cypriot flag.

According to a statement from the Deputy Ministry, Ms. Hadjimanoli visited Athens from September 18 to 20.

On Thursday, September 19, the Deputy Minister participated in the General Assembly of the Cyprus Shipowners Association, where she presented the action framework of the Deputy Ministry, thanking the Association for its ongoing support of the Cypriot ship registry.

The Deputy Minister also announced a significant 12% rise in registered merchant vessels under the Cypriot flag over the past year. During the General Assembly, a dinner was hosted in the presence of the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, attended by Cypriot and Greek shipowners.

Additionally, during her visit to Athens, the Deputy Minister held meetings with shipping companies to ensure continuous communication and consultation with the maritime community. She also visited the facilities of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA), where she had the opportunity to discuss collaboration on issues related to marine environment protection and maritime education with board members.

Ms. Hadjimanoli also met with the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, Georgios Pateras, where they discussed current developments in global shipping and agreed on the potential for joint initiatives, particularly in maritime education.

On Wednesday, September 18, the Deputy Minister attended an event organized by the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, the Federation of Cypriot Organizations in Greece, and the ‘Den Lismono Georgios Karamanos’ foundation, dedicated to the memory of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion.
