According to a statement issued by the Palestinian Embassy in Cyprus, the agreement was signed by CWU President Eleftherios Ploutarchou and GUPW President Murad Sudani, in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador to Cyprus, Abdallah Attari. The agreement is part of a broader initiative to enhance cultural collaboration between the Cyprus Writers' Union and the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Authors, reflecting the shared desire of both associations to strengthen cultural bonds between their members and promote cooperation among writers from both friendly nations.
Mr. Sudani emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating, "Palestine needs to establish its presence in the global consciousness, and we must reconnect with Palestine’s friends, its history, and its culture."
On his part, the President of the Cyprus Writers' Union praised the agreement, expressing his support for the Palestinian people and their culture, and underscored that this partnership would foster cultural collaboration that benefits both associations.
Commenting on the agreement, Ambassador Attari highlighted its significance, noting, "We need cultural initiatives and networking to strengthen Cypriot-Palestinian relations, introduce Palestinian culture to Cypriot writers, and vice versa." He concluded by saying, "We will work to provide all the necessary support to enforce and enhance this agreement."
