Cyprus National Observatory Wins Top Award at World Architecture Festival
Innovative observatory recognized for design excellence and boosting astro-tourism in Cyprus' mountainous regions.
The Cyprus National Observatory has been awarded first prize in the "Completed Buildings: Civic & Community" category at the prestigious 2024 World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore. Known as the world’s largest architectural awards event, WAF honored the observatory for its innovative design and positive community impact.
Supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism through the “Incentive Scheme for the Revival of Countryside, Mountainous, and Remote Areas,” the observatory aims to elevate Cyprus’s tourism offerings. This initiative is part of a broader effort to create unique visitor experiences that spotlight Cyprus' rural and mountainous regions.
Astro-tourism is on the rise in Cyprus, aligning with the strategic objectives of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The observatory provides both tourists and professionals with educational and interactive opportunities, allowing visitors to explore Cyprus’ natural beauty and night skies.
