Nicosia: 48 Requests Submitted for Fast-Track Permits in First Week
Applications Sent to the Nicosia DAO Within the First Week of the New Process.
With the submission of the special Responsible Declaration Form for the Planner – checklist, and within 48 hours, the building permit will be issued by the District Administration Organizations (DAO) for applications submitted before July 1, 2024, concerning low-risk developments of up to two residential units (Category A), the Ministry of Interior announced in a press release on Monday. In the first week, 48 requests were submitted to the Nicosia DAO, it said.
According to the decree of the Minister of Interior (pages 2783-2789 of the document), which came into effect on December 9, 2024, planners who had submitted a building permit application before July 1, 2024, and whose application is still pending, have the opportunity to resubmit the application under the new procedure by completing the special checklist and submitting it to the DAOs to obtain a building permit within 48 working hours.
It is also mentioned that in the first week of the decree’s implementation, 48 requests for fast-track building permits were submitted to the Nicosia DAO.
"Planners in all districts are encouraged to take advantage of the new licensing process, reducing the waiting time for obtaining a building permit and facilitating their clients in the faster construction of their homes and, consequently, the acquisition of their own housing," the press release concludes.
