Andreas Lefkaritis: A New Larnaka Awaits to Welcome the City’s Next Generation

"Now it’s Larnaka’s turn to grow."

Mr. Andreas Lefkaritis, Head of Sales at Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd and Project Head of Land of Tomorrow, speaks about the ambitious initiative that will bridge the Larnaka we know today with its future.

"Wherever the sea meets the shore, it forges a deep bond with the land. It becomes the heart of your life—the backdrop to your childhood memories, endless summers, and strolls with family, friends, and your children. These stretches of coastline, woven into your daily life, are what you dream of making even more beautiful, more welcoming, more alive."

This personal connection captures the essence of Larnaka and its people, he explains, as we discuss the Land of Tomorrow, the most ambitious project ever undertaken in the city by the Lefkaritis Group.

“We never wanted to leave this place,” he says. “Larnaka is a city with a simple, calm character. It has less traffic compared to other cities, greater safety, and a slower pace of life. Foinikoudes, Mackenzie Beach, and the mall are places where generations, young and old, gather and enjoy life. And now, with the newly renovated Zouchouri Square, I hope and believe that the city centre will transform further, becoming once again a vibrant hub for both locals and tourists."

A Vision for Larnaka’s Future

What does he see for Larnaka’s future? His answer is filled with optimism: “It will undoubtedly become even more beautiful, with more green spaces, improved infrastructure, and major developments. Now it’s Larnaka’s turn to grow." He emphasizes the need for progress in education, including universities and private schools, as well as improved healthcare services.

“The city’s modern identity must cater to both residents and visitors. Tourists should leave with a desire to return,” he says. “Larnaka’s evolution must remain true to its existing character, honouring its traditions and history. The present and the future should harmonize with its past, its natural surroundings, and its unique environment.”

Partnering with Global Leaders for a Sustainable Future

For such a significant undertaking, collaboration with world-class expertise was crucial. Lefkaritis highlights the role of Foster + Partners—one of the world’s leading architectural firms—in shaping the project’s master plan.

"Their professionalism, holistic approach to design, and commitment to sustainable, green development that respects Larnaka’s character impressed us from the start. They conducted extensive research, considering everything from the city’s iconic castle and architecture to the daily life of its residents, its culture, and natural landscape.”

The Land of Tomorrow: A Coastal Vision

The Land of Tomorrow project is set to redefine Larnaka’s coastline, stretching 2.5 kilometres along the Larnaka-Dhekelia seafront. It promises to create a vibrant, integrated and unique coastal community that blends living, working, and leisure spaces seamlessly. Lefkaritis describes it as “the bridge connecting Larnaka to the future.”

With sustainability as a guiding principle, the project envisions eco-friendly beaches, green spaces, cultural venues, and entertainment facilities. “A defining feature of the development will be the planting of approximately 20,000 trees, transforming the area into a green paradise,” he shares.

Phase One: A Green Community for Living and Beyond

In its first phase, Land of Tomorrow will deliver a residential complex consisting of five buildings. These will offer amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, and playgrounds, covering over 32,000 square meters. At the same time, plans for the broader development—including retail spaces and commercial streets—will take shape, offering residents and visitors a unique shopping and dining experience.

“Our goal with Land of Tomorrow is to benefit both Larnaka and all of Cyprus,” Lefkaritis emphasizes. “We are confident that such a sustainable and forward-thinking project will have a positive impact on the region, the economy, and the country’s progress.”

Timeline and Collaboration

The first phase of Land of Tomorrow, a strategic collaboration involving the Lefkaritis Group, Petrolina, bbf:, and Foster + Partners, will be situated along the beachfront. Construction is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2025, with pre-sales starting in the first quarter of the same year. Completion of this phase is anticipated within two to two-and-a-half years.

As Larnaka embraces its transformation, this ambitious project symbolizes a city ready to welcome a new generation, blending its storied past with a promising tomorrow.
