Philip Morris Cyprus Cleans Up The Pedieos River And Highlights The Power Of Collective Action

On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, Philip Morris Cyprus successfully organized the cleanup of a section of the Pedieos River in the Lakatamia area on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Over 40 participants, including Philip Morris Cyprus employees, partners, and volunteers from non-governmental organizations, joined forces for a common cause: preserving the natural beauty and protecting local biodiversity. Plastic, aluminum, tires, and other materials harmful to the ecosystem were removed from the riverbanks, breathing new life into the area.

"Protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility. Through this initiative, we send the message that every small act can make a difference," remarked Mr. Grigoris Kamperis, General Manager of Philip Morris Cyprus & Malta.

With this initiative, the company demonstrated its tangible commitment to environmental sustainability and its support for the local community. Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Philip Morris Cyprus lays the foundation for a better and cleaner tomorrow.

This action is not just another step towards environmental protection—it is a call for change. A call for everyone to think, act, and become part of the solution for a world free of plastic and other waste.
