Student Housing Project at Former "Berengaria" Settlement Progressing on Schedule

First phase of the €56.3 million CUT student accommodation project in Limassol to be completed by spring 2026, with full completion expected by 2027.

Construction work on the student housing project at the former British settlement "Berengaria" is progressing according to the original schedule. The first phase is set for completion in spring 2026, according to CUT Rector Panayiotis Zafeiris, who spoke to Offsite News.

Zafeiris confirmed that the project, which began in October 2023, will be completed in two phases. The first phase, expected to be delivered by spring 2026, will include the first set of student residences, while the second phase, scheduled for completion in spring 2027, will finalize the remaining accommodations.

Project Scope and Timeline

During the first phase, 154 student rooms will be delivered. The second phase, expected to follow over the next 12 months, will add 333 more rooms, completing the 487-unit complex.

"This is the largest project we have undertaken, and we consider it the most significant, as it directly supports students," Zafeiris stated. He highlighted that housing has been a major challenge for years, and the new student accommodations are expected to improve the situation in Limassol.

Although the project faced minor delays due to recent concrete supply strikes, Zafeiris reassured that the revised schedule still aligns with the original key deadlines for both phases.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The student residence complex at the former "Berengaria" settlement will cover a total area of 35,000 square meters and include:

  • 487 student rooms, of which 464 are single-occupancy, 10 are designed for students with disabilities (ADA-compliant), and 13 are two-bedroom units.

  • Reception offices, communal lounges, activity rooms, a restaurant, a gym, an aerobics hall, laundromats, and a multi-purpose hall.

  • Two underground parking facilities with a total capacity of 218 spaces (81 spaces in the first level and 137 in the second).

The total project cost is estimated at €56.3 million.
