Eurobank Cyprus Renews Partnership with Cyprus Seeds to Support Innovation and Startups
Sixth Consecutive Year of Commitment to Research Commercialization and Entrepreneurship
Eurobank Cyprus has renewed its partnership with the nonprofit organization Cyprus Seeds for the sixth consecutive year, reaffirming its long-term commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Cyprus.
The collaboration aims to support the startup ecosystem by successfully connecting research-driven startups with the business community. This is achieved through:
-
Promoting innovative startups originating from academic research teams at Cyprus’ universities and Centers of Excellence
-
Facilitating licensing agreements that allow businesses to commercialize research-based technologies
The agreement was signed on January 24, 2025, at Eurobank Cyprus’ headquarters by Achilleas Malliotis, Senior General Manager of Eurobank Cyprus, and Maria Markidou Georgiadou, General Director of Cyprus Seeds.
Cyprus Seeds is a nonprofit organization providing funding, mentorship, business training, and international networking to help commercialize cutting-edge scientific research conducted at Cyprus’ universities.
Since its establishment, Cyprus Seeds has incubated and supported six startups, including Senssos Ltd and Mammocheck Ltd.
-
Senssos Ltd is developing a virtual biofeedback mirror for musculoskeletal health, assisting with prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation. Its technology provides real-time posture and muscle activity feedback via a digital twin avatar, helping individuals and healthcare professionals analyze and optimize movement.
-
Mammocheck Ltd is revolutionizing breast health monitoring with a fast, safe, and cost-effective diagnostic tool. By enabling early detection of breast cancer, Mammocheck aims to increase survival rates and reduce healthcare costs, offering an affordable and accurate diagnostic solution for women worldwide.
"Investing in research and innovation is essential for sustainable economic growth, competitiveness, and resilience," said Achilleas Malliotis, Senior General Manager of Eurobank Cyprus. "Eurobank Cyprus follows a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility program aligned with ESG principles, supporting environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance. Through our partnership with Cyprus Seeds, we will continue to support scientific excellence and startups, ensuring their successful integration into the business community."
Maria Markidou Georgiadou, General Director of Cyprus Seeds, expressed her enthusiasm about the renewed partnership: "We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Eurobank Cyprus, which has supported our mission for six consecutive years. This partnership helps Cyprus’ research teams transform academic research into successful startups, driving economic and social benefits for Cyprus."
