"Pandamator: Life Moves, Dragging Houses and Fields" Brings Together 16 Artists in Limassol
Time's Imprint: Contemporary Art Exhibition Explores Transformation and Decay
How does time leave its mark on people, environments, objects, and memory? The exhibition "Pandamator: Life Moves, Dragging Houses and Fields" gathers 16 contemporary artists who explore the relentless passage of time through sculpture, installation, painting, drawing, photography, weaving, and new media. The exhibition takes place at the former Private Gynecological Clinic of Dr. Kleitos Oikonomou in Limassol, which is no longer in operation. Through the participating artists' works, the exhibition examines transformation, decay, and the traces time leaves behind.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, March 8, at 18:30, curated by Nefeli Stylianou.
The exhibition is housed in a building that embodies the cyclical nature of life. Designed by architect Fotis Kolakidis, the structure was completed in 1964 and functioned for decades as a Private Gynecological and Maternity Clinic, later serving as a nursing home. Today, it stands empty.
Drawing from the venue’s unique history, the exhibition focuses on the irreversible nature of time, its transformative impact, and its dual role as both a force of decay and regeneration. It investigates how time shapes individuals, their creations, and their surroundings, inviting visitors to reflect on its presence in both personal experience and collective memory.
The exhibition’s title is inspired by the ancient Greek phrase "Pandamator Chronos" ("Time that tames and conquers all"). Variations of this expression appear across different languages, underscoring how societies throughout history have perceived time as both a collective and deeply personal force.
The exhibition features works by Nikolas Antoniou, Andri Andreou, Rafaella Constantinou, Andrea Evagelou, Elina Hadjinicola, Avraam Chirodontis, Nikolas Iordanou, Liza Kara, Orestis Kalvaris, Christina Papakyriakou, Yiannis Sakellis, Panikos Spanos, Giorgos Taxiarchopoulos, Eirini Zinonos, Franc, and Yeti Yeti.
