Samsung Cyprus continues to strengthen its presence in the local market, bringing cutting-edge technology to consumers with each new release. Last month, Samsung Cyprus and Samsung Greece hosted an exclusive event at Nicosia’s iconic 360 Tower, unveiling the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series and, for the first time in Cyprus, the innovative Galaxy Ring.

With Samsung’s continued investment in the Cypriot market, we sat down with Aris Paraskevopoulos, Head of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics in Greece and Cyprus, to discuss Samsung’s strategy in the region, the role of AI in everyday technology, and the brand’s expanding wearable ecosystem.

Samsung recently held its major launch event in Nicosia. What were the key takeaways from this event, and how does it reflect Samsung’s strategy for the Cypriot market?

Cyprus holds a position of strategic importance for Samsung Electronics. As such, we are committed to investing in the Cypriot market by introducing our latest innovations. A key takeaway from our recent event in Nicosia is Samsung's dedication to providing Cypriot consumers with access to cutting-edge technology. The Galaxy S25 series, with its powerful tools, enhances with AI, are designed to enhance everyday productivity and creativity, exemplifies this commitment. This latest addition to the Galaxy S lineup caters to users seeking a high-performance device with advanced specifications.

This launch reflects our strategic priority of ensuring that Cypriot consumers have access to the same innovative products as in other key markets.

Galaxy AI has been making headlines as a game-changer in Samsung’s mobile ecosystem. How do you envision AI transforming the user experience for customers in Greece and Cyprus specifically?

With the introduction of Galaxy AI, Samsung is committed to streamlining users' daily routines and simplifying the execution of everyday tasks. The Circle to Search feature, initially launched with the Galaxy S24 series, has revolutionized the way users conduct searches on their smartphones. AI-powered photo editing capabilities on mobile devices offer significant appeal, enabling users to effortlessly remove unwanted elements and edit their photos with greater ease and enjoyment. Furthermore, leveraging AI through multimodal agents, our smartphones can now monitor daily routines and provide valuable insights, facilitating a more seamless and efficient daily experience. This is exemplified by the Now Brief and Now Bar features introduced in the Galaxy S25 series.

The announcement of the Galaxy Ring has generated significant buzz. Can you share some insights on how this new product complements Samsung’s existing wearable ecosystem?

The Galaxy Ring represents a significant addition to Samsung's wearable ecosystem, particularly in its focus on advanced sleep technology. Its lightweight design, extended battery life, and emphasis on simplifying daily wellness make it a seamless extension of our existing offerings. The expansion of size options and availability in more markets, including Greece, demonstrates our commitment to providing accessible and personalized experiences for our customers. Furthermore, the updated Samsung Health app, with its enhanced sleep analysis, environment reporting, sleep time guidance, and mindfulness tracking, complements the Galaxy Ring by providing users with comprehensive insights and tools to improve their sleep habits and overall well-being. The Galaxy Ring is designed to work in harmony with our other wearables, providing a holistic approach to health and wellness management.

You’ve been with Samsung Electronics Hellas since 2014 and have witnessed substantial growth. What do you consider your biggest milestone during this journey, and what leadership principles or strategies can you attribute to this success?

Samsung is dedicated to the continuous pursuit and evolution of technology to meet the evolving needs of our users and enhance their daily lives. Our strategy is rooted in a human-centric approach, leveraging technology to create meaningful experiences. The Galaxy AI platform, in conjunction with One UI 7, represents a significant advancement in this direction. Our objective is to deliver an intuitive and seamless experience, where artificial intelligence functions as a discreet yet powerful assistant to the end-user. Through natural language processing and understanding, we aim to simplify complex tasks and create more personalized experiences for our users. This is the key to consistently delivering intuitive and superior mobile experiences.

How has the mobile device market in Greece and Cyprus evolved over the past decade, and what are the key consumer trends Samsung is focusing on?

The Greek mobile market is characterized by its dynamism and the enthusiastic adoption of new technologies by its consumers, who are both well-informed and discerning. This is reflected in their preference for state of the art smartphones, seeking devices that effectively address the multifaceted demands of their daily lives. The increasing demand for premium devices with enhanced battery performance, advanced camera capabilities, and other sophisticated features underscores this trend.

Consumers in Greece, and globally, now possess devices that transcend mere communication tools, serving as integral instruments that facilitate various aspects of their daily routines. We believe that the integration of artificial intelligence into these devices is a key driver of market demand. As consumers become increasingly aware of technological advancements while remaining mindful of cost considerations, we anticipate that the incorporation of AI into smartphones, along with its associated benefits, will stimulate further market growth.

Looking ahead, what innovations or technological advancements can consumers in Greece and Cyprus expect from Samsung’s mobile division in the next couple of years?

We are currently at a stage where artificial intelligence has naturally reached a certain level of commercialization - especially in everyday devices such as smartphones and, increasingly, PCs. However, let's not forget that its potential on a global scale has yet to be fully explored. At Samsung, we believe that the main role of AI will be to free us from routine, open new horizons of creativity and help take human productivity to the next level. These are the pillars around which we believe every future advancement will be built, allowing us to move forward one step at a time.

Personalized experiences are likely to become the norm, as multimodal agents analyze our preferences and needs and tailor our digital interactions accordingly. In personal care, for example, AI will play a key role in providing personalized advice about our fitness and well-being, with wearables able to monitor our vital signs and suggest personalized exercise or even dietary advice.
