OPU Collective and Cohesion4EU are organizing a unique bike ride in Nicosia, aiming to inform and empower young people about the EU’s cohesion policy and its role in shaping the urban environment.

The Nicosia Bike Ride, an interactive cycling event aimed at raising awareness about European cohesion and promoting sustainable urban mobility. This initiative will engage young people (aged 18-35) in understanding the impact of the European Union’s THALIA 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Programme on Nicosia’s development.

Event Goals:

• Awareness: Highlighting how EU funding contributes to Nicosia’s transformation.

• Sustainable Mobility: Promoting cycling as an alternative means of transportation.

• Youth Empowerment: Engaging young adults (18-35) in discussions about European cohesion.

• Urban Challenges: Addressing transportation, cross-border mobility, and the digital divide.

Tour Stops:

1. Old GSP Area Redevelopment – Presentation on the project and its EU funding.

2. Smart Nicosia Initiative – Innovative solutions for smart cities.

3. CYENS Centre of Excellence – Research and technology for the future of the city.

After the bike ride, a workshop will take place at OPU House, featuring a live survey, presentations, and an open discussion on the importance of public social spaces and European cohesion.
