Student Teams Present Healthcare Innovations at Beyond Pre-Accelerator Demo Day
Multinational Student Teams Showcase Startup Ideas and MVPs at Demo Day in Limassol
Three student teams, composed of individuals from different nationalities and academic disciplines, combined their knowledge, produced tangible work, and presented their business models and products to the public during the Beyond Pre-Accelerator Demo Day. The event took place on Thursday, March 11, 2025, at the ASBIS TECH CLUSTER in Limassol.
According to an announcement by Junior Achievement Cyprus, students, academics, and representatives from the business sector attended the event. They had the opportunity to engage with the teams, gain detailed insights into their products or services, and see them in action. Most teams developed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), with their ideas aiming to enhance the value provided to patients, the healthcare system, and healthcare delivery overall.
During the event, the three finalist student companies had the opportunity to pitch their innovative business ideas. They were evaluated through interviews by a judging panel consisting of Kyriakos Fialogiannis (Investment Portfolio Manager, Gravity Ventures Incubator), Loukia Samata (Head of Patient Access & Corporate Partnerships, Cyprus & Malta, Novartis), Michalis Strouthos (Co-founder & CEO, Cocoon Creations), and Marina Chatzicharalambous-Ryder (Molecular Pharmacologist, Theramir).
The winning idea of the Beyond Pre-Accelerator 2025 was developed by the team pHera, a groundbreaking medical innovation designed to improve the safety and accuracy of nasogastric (NG) tube placement. Their integrated solution features a built-in pH sensor that enables immediate confirmation of correct tube positioning, reducing risks and facilitating the work of healthcare professionals in hospitals and home care settings worldwide.
pHera will represent Cyprus at the JA Bulgaria National Competition on March 27. The team includes Karthikayini Gomathinayagam, Ron Poon, Alma Sato, and Loukia Chatzilazarou.
