Retail Trade Turnover in Cyprus Rises in February

Sales Value Up by 5.6% and Volume by 4.7%, Led by Books, Sports Goods, and Clothing

The retail trade turnover in Cyprus recorded a significant increase in February 2025, according to data released on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

Specifically, the Retail Trade Turnover Value Index for February 2025 rose by 5.6% compared to February 2024, while the Retail Trade Turnover Volume Index increased by 4.7% in the same period.

The most substantial increases were recorded in the category of educational and recreational goods, such as books, stationery, sporting goods, and toys. The value of sales in this category rose by 18.2%, while the volume increased by 17.8%.

This was followed by information and communication equipment, with a 4.8% increase in value and an 11.7% increase in volume.

Clothing and footwear also saw significant growth, with value up by 4.0% and volume up by 9.6%.

Conversely, the largest decreases were recorded in non-store retail trade, where the value dropped by 2.4% and the volume by 1.3%.

During the first two months of 2025, the Retail Trade Turnover Value Index rose by 5.2%, while the Volume Index increased by 3.7%, compared to the same period in 2024.
