University of Cyprus and Artemis Intelligence Join Forces to Advance Tech Innovation
New partnership aims to bridge research with real-world applications in AI, cybersecurity, and smart systems.
The University of Cyprus and Artemis Intelligence signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, launching an institutional framework that connects academic research with the technological needs of the modern economy.
According to the University, the collaboration will leverage its scientific expertise and research capacity alongside Artemis Intelligence’s technological know-how and business experience. The partnership will focus on promoting technological innovation, developing joint research projects, and applying advanced solutions to contemporary challenges, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart systems, and data analytics. The collaboration will also include student internships and co-hosted educational and research events.
Through this targeted partnership, the two parties aim to actively contribute to positioning Cyprus as a high-reliability partner on the European technology map.
University of Cyprus Rector, Professor Tasos Christofides, highlighted that this partnership reinforces the University’s strategic commitment to bridging academia with the business world. The collaboration, he noted, will create interactive opportunities that promote innovation and bring substantial value to the agreement, supporting broader societal and economic progress.
Michalis Glaros, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Artemis Intelligence—and former Principal Program Manager at Microsoft’s global Cloud Industry AI team—commented: “The University of Cyprus is a high-quality academic institution with strong prospects in the European arena. In my ten-plus years at Microsoft, working internationally, I rarely encountered such capable and well-prepared students — fully equipped to take on complex AI projects with business applications.”
Glaros also emphasized the significance of this partnership for Cyprus and its future workforce. He noted that the University’s postgraduate programs in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, although relatively new, are already producing high-caliber graduates. This collaboration, he added, has the potential to strengthen Cyprus’s innovation ecosystem by cultivating a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of tomorrow.
