Where Are Cypriots Travelling This Year?

Modest Growth Expected in Arrivals and Outbound Travel

Optimism prevails for the coming months regarding both tourist arrivals to Cyprus and Cypriots traveling abroad. The President of the Association of Cyprus Travel & Tourism Agents (ACTTA), Haris Papacharalambous, told OffsiteNews that a slight increase is expected compared to last year, although no significant changes are anticipated in the leisure travel preferences of Cypriots or in the countries of origin of tourists visiting the island.

Positive Outlook for Tourist Arrivals and Cypriot Travel Abroad

Papacharalambous stated that over the next few months, a modest increase of about 3–5% is expected in both tourist arrivals and the number of Cypriots traveling abroad compared to the same period last year.

Regarding inbound tourism, he noted that the United Kingdom will once again lead as the primary source of visitors, followed by Israel and Poland. However, he clarified that in terms of arrival numbers, Israel ranks first, while in terms of overnight stays, Poland leads, followed by Israel.

Cypriots are expected once again to choose Greece as their top destination for relaxation this year, maintaining its long-standing popularity. The United Kingdom follows as another favored option.

Papacharalambous emphasized that Greece remains the preferred destination for Cypriots not only during the summer months but throughout the year. He also pointed out a growing preference over the past two years for destinations in Central Europe and for long-haul travel.

Additionally, the Statistical Service of Cyprus recently released the latest figures regarding tourist arrivals and Cypriot resident returns from trips abroad for March.
