Cyta Acquires Simplex LCA1, Cyprus’s Largest Private Data Center

Strategic acquisition boosts Cyta’s infrastructure with the island’s largest private data center, supporting high-availability services and green tech development.

The Simplex LCA1 data center, now acquired by Cyta, stands as Cyprus’s largest privately owned data facility, covering nearly 1,000 square meters. With a maximum power capacity approaching 1MW, it is designed according to Tier III standards, offering high availability and resilient infrastructure. The facility features redundant systems, as well as advanced physical and cybersecurity protocols, ensuring operational continuity and safety.

Engineered to meet strict specifications and international standards—including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, and EMAS—Simplex LCA1 is also optimized for energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. As a member of the European Data Center Association (EUDCA) and a signatory of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (CNDCP), the center embodies modern data infrastructure ideals.

The acquisition of Simplex LCA1 enhances Cyta’s portfolio of high-availability services, already catering to businesses, governments, and international organizations active in the region. Coupled with the ongoing expansion of Cyta’s undersea cable network and the upcoming development of a new green data center, this move solidifies the company’s long-term strategy to position Cyprus as a regional data infrastructure hub.

Cyta CEO Andreas Neocleous stated: "The acquisition of Simplex’s data center is not just a technology investment. It’s a statement of intent. We want Cyprus to control its digital infrastructure and data sovereignty. To be a regional reference point for stability, security, and sustainability in data services. This acquisition brings us one step closer to that goal while enabling us to deliver advanced, innovative services to the market faster. At Cyta, we work with vision and awareness of our role, in full alignment and cooperation with the State and all stakeholders, to build a digitally advanced Cyprus—progress that includes and benefits everyone."

Simplex Founder and CEO Michalis Omirou added: "Driven by excellent customer service, our passion for innovation, and hard work, we developed Simplex into Cyprus’s leading data center service provider. After 20 years, it’s time for Simplex to move into its next phase, and Cyta is the ideal partner for this journey. Cyta’s strong brand and wide range of services create synergies for further growth and innovation, ensuring success for both our current and future clients—and advancing Cyprus’s status as a regional digital hub. I am proud that Simplex LCA1’s future is now in the hands of Cyta, an organization with proven expertise, transparency, and strategic vision for the region’s technological future."
