Cypriot Academic Stavros Zenios Elected to the European Academy

Recognized for Excellence in Economics, Management, and Governance by Academia Europaea

Stavros Zenios, a founding member of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts, has been elected as a full member of the Class of Economics and Management Sciences and as an associate member of the Class of Governance, Institutions and Policies of the Academia Europaea (European Academy). The Cyprus Academy congratulated him on this distinction.

According to his biography, included in the Cyprus Academy’s announcement, Zenios is a Professor of Finance and Management Science at the University of Cyprus and is currently on unpaid leave at Durham University in the United Kingdom.

He is also a non-resident Fellow at Bruegel, a prominent Brussels-based think tank. Zenios has served twice as Rector of the University of Cyprus and as President of the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA). He has also been a visiting professor at institutions including MIT, the University of Vienna, the University of Haifa, the Norwegian School of Economics, and the Athens University of Economics and Business.

“The Academia Europaea elects distinguished scholars as members, with the sole criterion being proven scientific excellence in their field. The election of Academic Stavros Zenios confirms the international recognition of his work by the academic community and honors the Academy of which he is a Founding Member,” the announcement concludes.
