Cyprus Planetarium Unveils Sculpture Honoring Space Exploration Pioneers
The Intricate Sculpture Was Crafted by Renowned Sculptor Alexei Leonov
In a move to commemorate the first astronauts, the Cyprus Planetarium has installed a distinguished relief sculpture. According to an official statement from the planetarium, which stands as the largest in the Eastern Mediterranean, a ceremony was held to unveil the artwork representing the dreams, inspiration, and scientific achievements of space exploration.
The event, which took place at the iconic knowledge and discovery hub of the Cypriot Planetarium, gathered esteemed guests to honor the brave explorers of space. The intricate sculpture, a generous gift to the planetarium by the International Philanthropic Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures - One World", was crafted by renowned sculptor Alexei Leonov. The masterpiece portrays three paramount space trailblazers: Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, Sergey Pavlovich Korolev, and Yuri Alexeyevich Gagarin.
Philanthropist Vyacheslav Adamovich Zarenkov, the founder of the "Creating the World" Philanthropic Foundation, which also funded the construction of The Cyprus Planetarium, was present to unveil the work.
To conclude the ceremony, attendees were treated to a lecture on the legendary astronauts and watched a film on contemporary space exploration in the planetarium's dome theater.
