New Administrative Board Appointed at Cyprus Public Gas Enterprise (DEFA)
President Christodoulides Leads Appointment of Key Figures in Cyprus' Energy Sector
In its recent session, the Council of Ministers, under President Nikos Christodoulides, proceeded with the appointment of the new Administrative Board of the Cyprus Public Gas Enterprise (DEFA). As the Presidential announcement states, the selection of the new board members was conducted through the Advisory Council's process.
"The Advisory evaluated the applications of interested parties and prepared a list of proposed candidates, which was then submitted to the responsible Minister," the announcement stated. Subsequently, following a recommendation by the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, Giorgos Papanastasiou, Antonis Patsalis, a Mechanical Engineer, was appointed as the President of DEFA.
Kyriakos Kouppas, a Chemical Engineer, was appointed as Vice President, and the board members include Dimitrios Papapolyviou (Lawyer), Christos Kallis (Mechanical Engineer), Giorgos Asiiekallis (Electronic Electrical Engineer), Nikolaos Morfitis (Business Administration), Thomas Sepos (Mechanical Engineer), Anastasia Kalaika (Industrial Applications Officer A', representing the General Director of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry), and Michalis Iakovides (Officer of the National Betting Authority, representing the General Director of the Ministry of Finance).
The appointment of the Administrative Board members is valid for a period of 30 months.
Finally, it is noted that prior to the Council of Ministers' decision, the House of Representatives was informed, in accordance with relevant legislation.
