Cyprus Poll: Government Coalition Parties at 10% as ALMA and Fidias Panayiotou Rise
IMR survey reveals growing momentum for ALMA and Direct Democracy ahead of the 2026 parliamentary elections.
ALMA (led by Odysseas Michaelides) and “Direct Democracy” (founded by Feidias Panayiotou) – appear with notably strong percentages in the new opinion poll published today. This is the first survey conducted after Feidias Panayiotou officially announced the establishment of his new party, Direct Democracy, and his intention to contest the May 2026 parliamentary elections.
ALMA continues to enjoy double-digit support, registering 10.1%, while Feidias Panayiotou’s Direct Democracy records a 5.7% share. With these figures, ALMA secures fourth place, following DISY, AKEL, and ELAM, while Direct Democracy makes its debut in sixth place, just after DIKO (7.1%).
Together, DIKO, EDEK, and DIPA – the parties currently supporting the government – collectively gather 10% in this poll, suggesting that if these trends continue, the next Parliament could see a smaller number of government-backing MPs.
Among the established parties, DISY (18.3%) and AKEL (17.6%) continue their neck-and-neck race for first place, with minimal differences separating them—making it impossible to predict a clear winner at this stage. Far right ELAM remains a solid third (13.4%), while DIKO struggles at 7.1%.
Among smaller parties, Volt (3.1%) and the Greens (2.5%) are both battling to cross the parliamentary threshold, while EDEK (1.9%) and DIPA (1%) once again appear with particularly low numbers—raising serious doubts about whether they will manage to enter Parliament in the 2026 elections.
