Education Minister in Brussels for EU Council and EU Sports Awards Ceremony

Chairing the EU Council of Sports Ministers
Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Athena Michaelidou is travelling to Brussels Monday to preside over the EU Council of Sports Ministers and to present awards at the #BeActive 2026 EU Sports Awards ceremony.
The ceremony takes place on Tuesday, in the presence of representatives of member states, European institutions and sports organizations from across Europe.
Honoring Inclusive Initiatives Across Europe
A press release by the Ministry says that #BeActive Awards recognize excellent initiatives that promote sport, physical activity and inclusive participation in all social groups.
The ceremony will be hosted by Glenn Micallef, Commissioner responsible for intergenerational fairness, youth, culture and sport, who will announce the winners of this year's awards.
The Minister returns home Wednesday.
