High Demand for Electric Vehicle Subsidy Programs
Citizens Show Keen Interest in Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Subsidies Following Application Process Launch
Citizens have shown significant interest in the subsidy programs for purchasing electric vehicles, following the opening of the application process last Saturday.
According to data from the Department of Road Transport, by Monday morning, there had been 984 applications for the purchase of new electric vehicles, 252 applications for the withdrawal and replacement with new low CO2 emission hybrid vehicles, 44 applications for electric bicycles, and 230 applications for new electric motorcycles. Additionally, there have been 45 applications for withdrawal in exchange for free bus tickets worth €250 and a one-time amount of €500. Furthermore, all 104 available grants for purchasing used electric vehicles have already been claimed.
As for large families, all 30 grants for purchasing new electric vehicles have been claimed, while 12 applications remain available for withdrawal and replacement with new hybrid vehicles with low CO2 emissions.
The professional categories are also showing great interest. All 4 grants for purchasing new electric vehicles in the N2 category (commercial vehicles weighing over 3,500 kg but not exceeding 12,000 kg) and both grants for new electric vehicles in the M2 category (minibuses with more than eight passenger seats) have been exhausted. For taxis, there have been 23 applications for purchasing new electric taxis and one for withdrawal and replacement with a new hybrid taxi with low CO2 emissions.
As of Monday morning, there were still 976 available applications for withdrawal and replacement with new low CO2 emission private vehicles out of 1,228, 843 out of 1,827 applications for grants to purchase new electric private vehicles, 663 out of 893 for electric motorcycles, and 889 out of 933 for grants to purchase new electric bicycles. Additionally, 27 out of the initial 72 applications remain for withdrawal in exchange for free bus tickets worth €250 and a one-time amount of €500.
The registration process for all categories of grants is conducted online through the Department of Road Transport's website from 17/02/2024 until 11/10/2024 or until the grants for each category are exhausted, whichever occurs first.
