Task Force to Promote Workplace Equality Announced
KEVE and Gender Equality Commissioner Join Forces
Just yesterday, the Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) announced their collaboration aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace and entrepreneurship.
According to a joint statement, significant actions are planned in the immediate future through this partnership. These include the establishment of a Gender Equality Task Force, comprising representatives from the Commissioner's Office and business members of KEVE, with the primary goal of promoting gender equality in the workplace.
The announcement also highlights the challenges and barriers women face, especially concerning their participation in the boards of organizations and businesses and accessing leadership roles. Based on the analysis of these challenges, actionable steps will be designed to overcome these barriers.
Moreover, the collaboration will focus on pay equality and will involve ten KEVE-member businesses employing between 50-150 workers. The aim is to formulate annual action plans to promote equality in businesses and explore potential wage gaps, both horizontal and vertical, with an objective to further reduce them.
To formalize this significant collaboration, the Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner and KEVE will proceed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, the announcement concluded.
