Work To Begin Before 2025 With A 24-month Completion Timeline

The deadline for receiving bids or applications for participation in the project, according to the Department of Public Works, was until July 26, 2024, the day when the bids were opened. Six companies expressed interest in the project, as announced by the Department of Public Works.
According to the Department of Public Works, the project involves the improvement/upgrading of (a) Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the SOPAZ roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long, and (b) a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of sections of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madari, Semelis streets, etc. The project includes, among other things, the construction of two new roundabouts and the upgrade of the existing SOPAZ roundabout, the construction of bus stops, pedestrian crossings, paved sidewalks, and pedestrian-bicycle shared zones, a central island, green strips, and works for stormwater, sewage, irrigation, and water supply, as well as road signage and traffic lights.
After the deadline for submitting bids and applications, the next step is their evaluation by the four responsible members. However, the evaluation duration cannot be precisely determined as it requires time for meetings and could involve additional information and communication from the contractors who submitted the bids.
After evaluating the bids, they will be forwarded to the Tender Board for further assessment and decision-making. Subsequently, a preliminary update will be provided to the interested parties, as stipulated by the legislation.
