Tseriou Avenue: A €10 Million Reconstruction Project
Strovolos Mayor Announces Start of Works in May
The Mayor of Strovolos, Andreas Papacharalampous, expressed optimism that reconstruction work on Tseriou Avenue would commence in May.
Following a session of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs, which independently reviewed the delays in implementing the works on the avenue, Mr. Papacharalampous stated, "We are in the final stage," and voiced hope for the reconstruction to start within May.
The Mayor pointed out that this urban development project, designed by the Strovolos Municipality, is estimated to cost around €10 million. "During the 24-month construction period, as stipulated in the contract, Tseriou Avenue will remain open for vehicle traffic," he emphasized. He acknowledged that there will be some inconvenience but clarified that, in coordination with the Police, appropriate measures will be taken to offer solutions on adjacent roads such as Strovolos, Kantaras, and Constantinoupoleos Avenues.
Responding to a query, Mr. Papacharalampous stressed that accessibility for shop owners will be maintained, albeit with some limitations, throughout the construction. He also expressed confidence that the Strovolos Municipal Council would implement compensatory measures to support local businesses. "Shop owners in the area can be assured that the Strovolos Municipal Council will stand in solidarity with them in this endeavor," he added.
In response to another question, the Mayor noted that the new plan would increase parking spaces by 150, bringing the total to approximately 400.
