CMMI and NIMRD Sign MoU to Advance Marine and Maritime Research
Collaboration Targets Aquaculture, Marine Observation, Climate Change Impacts, and Pollution Reduction
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) and Romania's Institutul Național de Cercetare-Dezvoltare Marină Grigore Antipa (NIMRD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on key research areas, including aquaculture, marine observation, climate change impacts, and pollution reduction.
According to a statement by CMMI, the agreement marks a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration in marine and maritime research, innovation, and development. The MoU was signed at the CMMI headquarters in Larnaca by Zacharias Siokouros, CEO of CMMI, and Dr. Florin Timofte, General Director of NIMRD, in the presence of researchers specializing in marine and maritime sciences.
The statement highlighted that the two institutes have committed to long-term research collaborations. The MoU aims to promote the shared vision of CMMI and NIMRD in advancing research and innovation in marine science, focusing on critical areas for sustainable development and ocean health.
Through this partnership, the two organizations will work on projects addressing aquaculture, marine observation, the impacts of climate change, and marine pollution reduction.
The MoU, as noted in the announcement, not only reaffirms the institutes' commitment to innovation and sustainable development but also strengthens regional and international cooperation on critical marine issues.
