Cyprus Seeds Earns Historic Spot in FT Ranking of Europe’s Leading Start-Up Hubs

This recognition marks the first occasion that any Cypriot start-up support organization has claimed a spot on the prestigious FT list.

In a milestone achievement for the Cypriot entrepreneurial ecosystem, Cyprus Seeds has been named by the Financial Times and research firms Statista and Sifted as one of Europe’s Leading Start-Up Hubs. Out of roughly 3,000 applicants across the continent, only 150 organizations made the final cut—placing Cyprus Seeds among Europe’s elite for the very first time in Cyprus’s history of innovation.

A First for Cyprus

This recognition marks the first occasion that any Cypriot start-up support organization has claimed a spot on the prestigious FT list. At #104, Cyprus Seeds is the sole representative from Cyprus to earn this honor.

The organization is also ranked #13 on the Financial Times' 'Eastern Europe' regional sublist.

Through a social media post, Cyprus Seeds credits its mentors, investors, and the academic community for helping it reach this level of success.

Steep Competition and Rigorous Evaluation

To compile the list, FT and Statista evaluated roughly 3,000 start-up hubs on a variety of stringent criteria, including impact, growth metrics, and support mechanisms.

Cyprus Seeds is part of a broader Mediterranean start-up scene that is steadily gaining momentum. Neighboring Greece had three entries in the top 150:

  • Athens Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation (ACE) at #105

  • The Athens Startup Business Incubator (Th.E.A.) at #130

  • EGG – Enter Grow Go at #134

Topping the European Ranks

Taking the #1 spot overall was Munich’s UnternehmerTUM, followed by France’s Station F, Germany’s Start2 Group, and then the HEC Paris Innovation & Entrepreneurship Institute. London-based Founders Factory rounded out the top five.

Europe's Leading Start-Up Hubs 2025 is a ranking of the top centres for founders offering incubator and/or accelerator programmes to people who want to build or grow a company. Requiring at least one physical location within Europe, these centres are called start-up hubs. In total, 150 such hubs were recognised in this year's ranking.

The Financial Times cooperated with the international data and research company Statista as well as Sifted, the FT-backed leading media brand for the European startup community.
