Cyprus University of Technology Launches Fact-Check Center
An Important Step Against Misinformation
The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) has established the"Fact-Check Cyprus," through its Social Informatics Research Unit.
According to an announcement by CUT, Fact-Check Cyprus represents the island's first-ever group dedicated to identifying and debunking false claims. It's the culmination of a collaborative effort between individuals committed to fighting misinformation in both Cyprus and Greece.
The Center aims not only to dismantle false news but also to educate the public on combating misinformation and enhancing digital literacy. This dual approach underscores the importance of media literacy in today's digital age.
The formal agreement for this initiative was by Dr. Marinos Koutsomichalis on behalf of CUT, and Dr. Loukia Taxitari from the Fact-Check Cyprus team. The signing took place at the sidelines of an event titled "Misinformation/Anti-Misinformation and Migration."
