“Digital Citizen” App Now Accessible to Users Aged 14 and Above
Digital Documents via the App Are Fully Equivalent to Physical Ones for Identity Verification
The "Digital Citizen" mobile application is now accessible to users aged 14 and above, according to an official announcement.
Digital copies of official documents created through the "Digital Citizen" app are fully equivalent to their physical versions. Citizens can therefore present a digital version of an official document through the app for identity verification purposes, which will be accepted without exception.
The "Digital Citizen" app is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
To use the app, users must create and verify a profile through CY Login. Account creation can be completed online at https://cge.cyprus.gov.cy, while profile verification for minors can be done by appointment at Citizens Service Centres (KEP), either in person or via video call through the MyGovLive service (www.mygovlive.gov.cy).
In both verification methods—physical or online—the minor and one parent or legal guardian must be present, along with their identification documents.
It is important to note that the digital documents generated through the application are not valid for international travel.
Digital copies may only be created if the citizen lawfully possesses the original official document.
