New Aid Scheme Supports Cypriot Businesses at Global Exhibitions
The Ministry also announced its plans to participate for the first time in GITEX EUROPE 2025, which will debut in Berlin from May 21-23, 2025
The Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry announced its intention on Thursday to participate for the fourth consecutive year in the largest international Technology and IT exhibition, GITEX GLOBAL, which will take place in Dubai, UAE, from October 13-17, 2025.
The announcement follows the Cabinet's approval earlier today of the new "De Minimis Aid Scheme for Cypriot Service-Providing Businesses to Participate in International Exhibitions with a State Pavilion (2025-2026)," based on a proposal by the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, Giorgos Papanastasiou.
The Ministry also announced its plans to participate for the first time in GITEX EUROPE 2025, which will debut in Berlin from May 21-23, 2025, and in the MARINTEC China 2025 maritime exhibition, set to take place in Shanghai from December 2-5, 2025. These plans respond to growing interest in participation in additional exhibitions with state pavilions, both in the technology sector and in other industries.
Through the organization of state pavilions at these exhibitions, Cyprus is showcased as a business hub in the fields of technology and shipping, while Cypriot service-providing businesses are given the opportunity to promote their services and leverage networking and business collaboration opportunities with both exhibiting companies and professional visitors, the Ministry noted.
With a budget of €400,000 for 2025, the scheme is open to legal entities (businesses) active in the service sector. The maximum de minimis aid per beneficiary per exhibition is €12,500 and covers, among other expenses, exhibition space rental, booth construction and equipment costs, participation fees, and costs for electricity installation and consumption.
