OpenAI is preparing a major overhaul of its platform as it seeks to compete more effectively against rivals ahead of its highly anticipated initial public offering.

The company plans to transform ChatGPT from a traditional question-and-answer chatbot into a fully integrated "super app."

The changes are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks, according to reports citing current and former OpenAI employees.

There is a growing consensus across the technology industry that the future of artificial intelligence lies in autonomous AI agents capable of performing complex, multi-step tasks, such as booking travel or managing a user's schedule, rather than simply responding to prompts.

The OpenAI overhaul will include a redesign of the company's website and mobile app, featuring new coding tools, image-generation capabilities, and applications built by partners such as Canva and Booking.com.
