In its announcement, the Bank of Cyprus stated that this year’s Hackathon expanded into every aspect of society and technology under the theme “Fintech Everywhere.” The event showcased projects ranging from Smart Cities, which use real-time payment systems and sensor data to improve urban efficiency, to Sustainable Finance and Green Banking initiatives that integrate environmental criteria into every financial transaction.

Throughout the weekend, over 37 mentors from the Bank of Cyprus, Jinius, Crowdpolicy, academia, and the private sector provided guidance and technical support, helping teams transform their ideas into functional prototypes.

The Bank also noted that among the participants were two high school teams, “demonstrating once again that Fintech and Open Innovation continue to be key drivers of growth for Cyprus’ technological ecosystem.”
