Important Meeting Between Volunteers and the Nicholas Zoe Foundation
The Meeting Took Place On May 29.
A special and deeply moving meeting took place on May 29 between volunteers and the Nicholas Zoe Foundation, in an atmosphere filled with emotion, strength, and solidarity.
During the meeting, the founder of the Foundation, Alexia Potamitou—mother of young Nicholas, who passed away prematurely after battling Ewing sarcoma—gave a heartfelt speech. The untimely loss of Nicholas became the catalyst for creating the Foundation, with the aim of investing in scientific research and supporting efforts to save other children facing the same harsh reality.
One of the Foundation’s key initiatives is the support of an innovative research project at Boston Children’s Hospital, involving the use of liquid biopsy. This research aspires to enable faster diagnosis, less invasive treatments, and targeted care for children with cancer—an effort proudly supported by the Nicholas Zoe Foundation.
Mrs. Potamitou shared her personal journey with those present, the promise she made to her son, and her commitment to transforming pain into action and loss into hope. Her presence and words deeply touched the attendees, reinforcing a shared sense of giving and mutual support.
The volunteers’ response was immediate and heartfelt. Their shared determination to support the work of the Nicholas Zoe Foundation was expressed through words, glances, and silent promises to continue and strengthen the fight.
The Nicholas Zoe Foundation continues its mission with dedication, honoring Nicholas’s memory and offering hope and perspective to children and families in need.
