A commercial vessel sustained damages from an attack south of Yemen, and coalition forces are providing support, as reported by the British maritime security service, UKMTO.

A Barbados-flagged vessel, owned by an American shipping company was targeted by an entity claiming to be the "Yemeni Navy." It was ordered to change course, according to the British insurance company Ambrey. The incident occurred approximately 57 nautical miles southwest of the Aden port in southern Yemen, the report stated. A US defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that smoke was seen emanating from a Barbados-flagged dry cargo ship, the True Confidence, near the southern coasts of Yemen close to Aden.

The ship appears to be managed by a Cyprus based company. According to current information, there appear to be no Cypriot seafarers on the cargo ship True Confidence, which was hit by a missile while sailing in the Red Sea, stated Cyprus's Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanoli. She clarified that the ship is neither under the Cypriot flag nor Cypriot-owned but managed by a company with offices in Cyprus.

Speaking from Brussels at a conference of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU on the living conditions of seafarers, Hadjimanoli clarified that "the ship does not carry the Cypriot flag, nor is it Cypriot-owned, while its managing company maintains offices in Cyprus."

"We need to clarify the situation, so that information that does not correspond to reality does not circulate," she added.

Furthermore, she noted that "according to the information we have, there is no Cypriot crew on board the specific vessel," expressing her concern for the safety of the seafarers aboard True Confidence.

However, according to the latest update from Reuters, at least two seafarers have been killed in the attack, which the Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for.
