Countdown to Potima Marina: Proposals Due by January 23

Key dates revealed for Paphos’ long-awaited marina development.

Proposals for the construction of the Potima marina project are to be submitted by January 23, within the current month.

George Mais, President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the process is expected to become clearer within January. The deadline for submitting proposals has been set for January 23, 2026, following an extension that was granted to allow interested parties to submit questions. A specific date was subsequently set for responses to those questions.

Following the submission of proposals, Mr. Mais said an evaluation of the bids will take place, expected around March, after which the suitable bidders will be selected and invited to submit their final tender proposals. The negotiation phase is anticipated to take place in May.

The award of the contract is scheduled for late 2026 or January 2027, while the start of construction works is expected in April of the same year.

It is noted that the tender terms provide the successful bidder with two alternative development options.

The first option entails the construction of a marina with capacity for 1,000 vessels, featuring port facilities covering 70–80% of the development and land-based facilities covering 20–30%, combined with residential and commercial development, including a hotel complex.

The second option provides for the same vessel capacity and similar residential and commercial development, combined with the creation of a cruise ship berthing area.

In any case, Mr. Mais said the project concerns a modern, high-specification marina, the implementation of which is expected to contribute to the achievement of strategic development objectives and to the strengthening of the local economy in the Paphos district.

He added that the lease of the site where the project will be developed will have a duration of 55 years and will cover a total area of 166,000 square metres.
