The turnover index for services in administrative and support activities, real estate management, and accommodation and food services showed significant growth in the second quarter of 2024.

According to data from the Statistical Service, the index recorded an annual increase of 11.3% in administrative and support activities, 10.5% in real estate management, 6.3% in accommodation and food services, and 2.5% in information and communication.

In contrast, the sector of professional, scientific, and technical activities experienced a decrease of 1.9%.

For the period from January to June 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, the turnover index saw increases in administrative and support activities by 12.3%, accommodation and food services by 8.8%, information and communication by 8.5%, real estate management by 3.6%, and professional, scientific, and technical activities by 0.8%.

Transport and Storage Sector Sees 1.8% Growth in Q2 2024

The turnover index for transport and storage increased by 1.8% in the second quarter of 2024, reaching 139.4 points.

According to the Statistical Service, by economic activity, growth compared to the second quarter of the previous year was recorded in land transport (6.7%), sea transport (6.4%), postal and courier activities (3.7%), air transport (2.2%), and warehousing and support activities for transportation (1.1%).

For the period from January to June 2024, the turnover index for transport and storage showed a 1.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Registered Unemployment Drops 8.9% in August 2024

The number of registered unemployed individuals decreased by 8.9%, or 1,177 people, on an annual basis at the end of August, bringing the total number of unemployed to 12,079.

According to the Statistical Service, based on data from the District Labor Offices, the total number of registered unemployed at the end of August 2024 stood at 12,079.

When adjusted for seasonal fluctuations, which indicate the unemployment trend, the number of registered unemployed in August 2024 reached 11,197, remaining stable compared to the previous month.

Compared to August 2023, there was a reduction of 1,177 people, or 8.9%, mainly attributed to declines in the sectors of financial and insurance activities, construction, trade, manufacturing, as well as a reduction in new entrants to the labor market.
