Cyprus Airports: Flights Canceled and Security Tightened After Israeli Strike on Iran

Increased police presence at airports and ports - Larnaca and Paphos receive diverted flights from Europe and the USA.

Cyprus Police have proactively reinforced security measures at airports, ports, and other locations frequented by Israeli citizens, following Israel’s recent strike on Iran.

Flight Cancellations and Diversions

In the wake of the overnight attack by Israel on Iranian targets, flights between Israel and Cyprus’s Larnaca and Paphos airports were canceled. At the same time, a significant number of flights from Europe and the United States were diverted to Cyprus.

According to Hermes Airports, the operator of Cyprus's airports, several flights to and from Israel were canceled after the attack. Additionally, a considerable number of transatlantic and European flights were rerouted and landed at both Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Passengers on these diverted flights disembarked and were accommodated in airport terminals, with many transported to local hotels.

Hermes Airports confirmed that it successfully handled all flight diversion requests. To better manage the situation, the Crisis Management Center at Larnaca Airport has been activated.

Despite the disruptions, all other scheduled flights to and from Cyprus’s two international airports are operating normally.
