The President of the Republic met with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia - The third country after the UAE and Egypt to express interest.
The possibility of an electrical interconnection between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Cyprus was discussed by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, as reported by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
On the sidelines of the UN Summit, the President of the Republic met with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, with whom he discussed the security situation in the Middle East, deepening bilateral relations, and current developments regarding the Cyprus issue, with the President expressing gratitude for Saudi Arabia's support on Cyprus's national issue.
According to CNA, the President discussed the potential for an electrical interconnection between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Cyprus with the Saudi Foreign Minister.
After the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, this is the third country in the Arab world to express interest in participating in this major project, the same sources reported.
There was also a mutual commitment expressed to further deepen relations between the two countries at a strategic level, highlighting the significant prospects for political and economic cooperation that would be mutually beneficial.
