Cyprus to Approve Chevron's "Aphrodite" Gas Development Plan Within a Month
The updated development plan includes a floating production unit and a pipeline directed to a location closer to Egypt than initially proposed.
The Republic of Cyprus is expected to approve Chevron's "Aphrodite" Gas Field Development and Production Plan within a month. The final legal adjustments and revisions to the proposal are currently underway, with officials noting that the plan is moving in the "right direction."
The updated development plan includes a floating production unit and a pipeline directed to a location closer to Egypt than initially proposed. Specifically, the new pipeline will connect to the Port Said region in eastern Egypt, where gas infrastructure is already in place. This marks a shift from Chevron's earlier proposal, which suggested a more distant western Egyptian destination.
This adjustment is expected to significantly reduce costs and shorten the project's implementation timeline, while also maintaining the floating production unit at the Aphrodite gas field, a key preference of the Cypriot government.
